Literally 'human flesh search' — the practice of internet users collectively investigating someone to uncover their real identity, address, workplace, and personal details. Unlike algorithmic search, 人肉搜索 uses crowds of humans pooling information. It has been used to expose corrupt officials and animal abusers, but also to harass and destroy ordinary people over minor controversies. It's one of the most powerful and dangerous forces of the Chinese internet.

A playful phonetic variant of 有没有 (yǒu méi yǒu, 'is there / does anyone else'). Replacing 没 with 木 makes the question cuter and more casual. Used to seek solidarity: 'Is there anyone else who feels this way?' The wooden character (木) substitution reflects early Chinese internet's delight in phonetic substitutions that make written language feel more like spoken, playful speech.

An alternate account used alongside your main account — a sock puppet. The vest metaphor is vivid: a 马甲 is worn over your main identity, covering it when needed. Classmates (Phonetic Pun)

A phonetic pun on 同学 (tóngxué, classmates/peers) — 童鞋 (children's shoes) sounds nearly identical in Mandarin. The competitive scramble to claim the sofa had no informational value whatsoever, which was the point — it was pure internet tribal behavior. Replying with just '顶' (top/push up) to show support for a post and bump it to the top of the forum. China's original upvote — predating Reddit's actual upvote system by years.
